On Wednesday 14 December 2022, Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma the Honorable chief minister of Assam launched Assam Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme. This scheme is the updated version of “Orunodoi” the flagship scheme launched by the Assam government on 2nd October 2020. The scheme has been launched with the motive to provide financial security to financially disadvantaged families. Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has started various schemes for the welfare of the people of Assam. Assam Orunodoi 2.0 is another initiative of the Assam government toward the financial disadvantages of families of the state. The launch was done on 14 December 2022. During the launch ceremony held at the premises of Assam house in the national capital, CM states that Orunodoi is the largest social sector scheme in the history of Assam which is providing benefits to the millions of residents of the state. The scheme has the capability of transforming the lives of millions of residents of Assam.

Objective Of Assam Orunodoi 2.0 Scheme

The motive of the Government of Assam behind starting Assam Orunodoi 2.0 is to help the financially disadvantaged family. Under the scheme, the women of financially weaker families will receive an amount of rupees 1250 each on the 10th of every month through dbt transfer method. This amount will help the people of the state to lead a happy life without any financial trouble.

• Assam Orunodoi 2.0 has been launched by the Chief Minister of Assam.
• Under this scheme, the people of Assam who belong to financially disadvantaged families will be benefited.
• District level monitoring committee will be made for the successful implementation of the scheme.
• Those families who have widows, divyang, and unmarried girls members will get the preference under the scheme.
• This scheme is beneficial for the 17 lakh women of the state till now but from now onwards 10.5 lakh new beneficiaries added, Which means a total of 2700000 + beneficiaries is going to get the benefits of this scheme.
• An amount of rupees 1250 each on the 10th of every month is going to transfer to the beneficiary account through dbt transfer method.
• It is the largest social sector scheme in the history of Assam.
• This scheme has the capability to rapidly transform the lives of millions of Assam residents.
• The final selection of the candidates will be made by district-level monitoring committees.
• This scheme will help in the government’s aim of poverty alleviation.
• During the launch ceremony, CM said that from April 2023 onwards all the existing beneficiaries of the DeenDayaldivyang pension Yojana and Indira Miri widow pension scheme would be added under this scheme.
• Moreover, all those households who have a member who is suffering from dwarf or a condition like Cerebral Palsy, thalassemia, or hemophilia will also get the benefits of this scheme.
• This scheme provides guaranteed cash flow for the underprivileged family of the state.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Orunodoi 2.0

All the financially disadvantaged families of Assam state are eligible for this scheme. Preference will be given to the families who have the following numbers

• Families with widows
• Unmarried women
• Families with a divyang member
• Families having a divorced woman.
• Poor families not having ration cards
• Poor families with the Ration card
• Families who own two or three-wheelers, and tractors under self-help groups.

Not Eligible For Assam Orunodoi 2.0

All those families of Assam who belongs to the following are not eligible to apply for this scheme

• If a member of a family is a government employee
• If the family owns 15 Bighas of land, a four-wheeler, refrigerator, income above Rs. 2 lakh, own tractor
• If the family does not have any female member
• If any member of a family is a professional like doctor, engineer, CA, architect
• Former and current Member Of Parliament/Member Of Legislative Assembly.
• If any member of a families income tax paver

Selection Procedure

Following are the steps included in the selection process of the beneficiaries in this scheme:

• Selection of the beneficiary will be made by the village council development committee/gaun Panchayat/urban local body on the basis of a prepared checklist of eligible and ineligible candidates.
• A primary selection list is prepared and forwarded to the district-level monitoring committee for final selection.
• Finally approved list will be updated on the official website and details of the beneficiary will be validated.
• There the funds will transfer to the candidate’s account.
