A new scheme has been rolled out by the concerned organization of the West Bengal government to help all of the farmers. The government will be providing free rice to approximately 10 crore people in the West Bengal State till the month of June 2021. Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme

Under the West Bengal Kharif paddy procurement scheme, around 13 lakh farmers are enrolled by the concerned organization. It is said that around 7200000 paddy farmers will be registered in the scheme. The concerned authorities also said that they are planning to reach out to as many farmers as possible under this scheme. The government will also be procuring around 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer. The price for the paddy is yet to be fixed by the concerned authorities. There will be an unhindered supply of rice to the PDS under this scheme. The scheme will launch in the month of December.

The main objective which will be fulfilled through this scheme will be the support to the farmers of the West Bengal state. Low demands of paddy have severely hit the prices for all of the farmers and the prices for paddy are also falling this season. The government also announced a minimum support price but the prices seem to be falling below the MSP provided by the government. The West Bengal Government will also be imposing a ceiling price on the amount of paddy to be procured from each farmer. This will definitely help the farmers in the long run and to have a better income. A lot of farmers will be enrolling themselves under the scheme to get the benefit of a minimum price.

The main benefit in this scheme will be provided to the farmers who will be getting a ceiling price on their paddys and their rice. The concerned authorities of the West Bengal Government will be securing around 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer to help them in the long run. Prices will also be given according to the ceiling price that will be set by the West Bengal Government. In FY 2019, the maximum procurement of paddy went up to 90 quintals for every farmer at an MSP of Rs. 1,868 per quintal.
