Regular government employees can now receive leaves ranging from 365 days to 1080 days, or from 1 year to 3 years, by exercising the benefits of the scheme. The Sikkim State Government announced that due to this program, people are now able to pursue additional education, and launch new businesses, and other endeavors without fear of losing their government jobs. • Employees who have already borrowed money from their salary account are not qualified for sabbatical leave.
• Any government employee who is a part of the All India Service or serving a state government on deputation from the central government, other state governments, PSUs, boards, or centrally sponsored schemes would not be eligible for the program.
• Employees with open or unresolved departmental inquiry or vigilance proceedings against them, or those who have been suspended, will not be eligible until those issues are resolved.

Eligibility Criteria for Sikkim Sabbatical Leave Scheme

The applicants applying for scheme must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

• A permanent resident of Sikkim State must be the beneficiary.
• There will be eligibility for ordinary State Government workers.
• The benefit of the programme will be given to those who have worked at their jobs for at least 5 years.
