There have been at least 8,53,204 people who have benefited from the Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCMC) in the academic year 2021–22, and the total amount of money that has been distributed is more than Rs 1281.63 crore. Keeping the success improvement going, the state school system will soon develop a site for college instructors to transfer smoothly and transparently, similar to the Utsashree platform launched in August 2021 for school teachers. 

Educational Minister Basu opened a fresh version of the Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCMS). In this new version, there is a digi-locker that makes mark sheets and certificates for higher secondary available online and an online platform for giving NOC to ICSE and CBSE schools all over the state.Previously The ICSE and CBSE schools had to apply physically for an NOC from the Education department. After the release of the latest version of SVMCMS, it will be readily available online.

In 2021–2022, the minimum score required to qualify for the scholarship was lowered from 75% to 60% in an effort to reach more students. The SVMCMC program has been completely overhauled in 2016 to include more students and increase the scholarship levels. Students from Class XI through the Ph.D. level are eligible for the award. After many attempts to systematize the latest revamped version of SVMCMC, making it online for the vast majority will help the students drastically.

WB Utsashree Portal Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal
• The applicant should be confirmed and serving in the present school in the present post for at least 5 years
• The age of the applicant should be 59 years or less
• The place of posting should be more than 25 km in case of secondary school
• Primary teachers are not eligible to apply within the same circle
• No teaching/nonteaching staff will be allowed to apply within 5 years of the last transfer
• If anybody has refused the transfer order then that person will not be able to apply again before the completion of 7 years
• If a teacher is under suspension or facing any disciplinary proceedings or judicial proceedings or charges of financial irregularity then he/she shall not be able to apply for transfer
