About BharatNet Scheme 2022

BharatNet Scheme has been launched by the government of India under the Digital India program in order to provide high-speed digital connectivity of the internet in rural areas at a very affordable price. This high-speed digital connectivity will be provided through optical Fibre. It is the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity project. IIT Bombay Planning Tool

Planning is the first step in any kind of process. In order to properly implement any kind of scheme proper planning is essential. So a planning tool has been developed by IIT Bombay for the implementation of the BharatNet Scheme. This tool will be responsible to propose fiber topology for gram panchayat along with wireless and satellite links wherever necessary. BharatNet And Its Services

Through the BharatNet Project connectivity is provided to service providers like TSPs, ISPs, MSOs, LCOs, and government agencies so that they can extend their services from block to gram panchayats. This project is basically a middle mile network between block to gram panchayat. Through this project following services are offered to the government agencies and service providers.

Bandwidth

Using GPON technology point to point and point to multipoint bandwidth from block to gram panchayat is offered. All the service providers and government agencies who want to provide services to the gram panchayat level can connect to BharatNet at the block location. The service provider has to provide its services to the end customer in the gram panchayat using its own technology. This Bandwidth offered at affordable and attractive prices in order to promote the digital ecosystem

Dark Fibre

Dark fiber service can also be utilized by service providers on the new cable which is laid by BBNL between the block and gram Panchayat. This cable is called incremental cable. The incremental cable is offered between the fiber point of interconnect and gram Panchayat. There are 15000-gram panchayats where dark fibre is available. This fibre is offered at very attractive and affordable rates of Rs 2250 per fibre per km per annum

16 States To Get Broadband Connection Under BharatNet Scheme

The implementation strategy for the BharatNet scheme through the PPP model has been approved by the cabinet on 29th June 2021. Through the scheme, the broadband connection will be provided to the villages of 16 States. These 16 States include Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal region. For the implementation of this scheme, the government of India is going to provide a fund of Rs 19041 crore. This information has been given by the telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Under the BharatNet scheme, 3.61 lakh villages of 16 States will be covered which would cost a total of Rs 29432 crore.

Private Sector Included Under BharatBet Scheme

On 15th August 2020 honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that in the coming 1000 days 6 lakh villages of the country will be provided with broadband services. After the announcement, it was decided that private companies will also be covered under the BharatNet campaign. The goal was to cover 2.5 lakh gram Panchayat under this scheme. Out of 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, 1.56 lakh gram Panchayat have been covered till now. With the proper implementation of this scheme all the villages of the notified 16 States will be covered under the scheme. Soon remaining States will also be covered under this scheme.

Apply For BharatNet Connectivity For Service Provider

In order to apply for BharatNet connectivity you have to follow the steps given below:-

First Step

• First of all, you have to fill the application form for BharatNet bandwidth or BBNL dark fibre
• You can download these forms by Clicking Here

• Now you are required to fill this form by entering all the relevant details about your firm/company, location, etc
• All the relevant details should be filled in carefully in this form
• Now this application form is required to be signed by the authorized signatory
• For BharatNet connectivity requirement in one state or union territory, only one application form is required to be filled
• Following documents are required to be attached to the application form:-
  • MOA & AOA/ License of company
  • GST certificate
  • Company PAN card
  • Letter of authorization of authorized signatory

Second Step
