The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched Tamil Nadu Higher Education Assurance Scheme. Through this scheme, all those girls who study in government schools will be provided with a monthly deposit in order to encourage and help them to pursue higher education. The finance minister palanivel thiaga Rajan announced this scheme on 18th March 2022. Through this scheme, an amount of Rs 1000 will be deposited into the bank account of girls students enrolled in government schools. Around 6 lacs girls will be benefited from this scheme. The government is going to spend a total outlay of 698 crores for the implementation of this scheme.

To Combat Issue Of Low Enrollment Ratio Of Girls

Tamil Nadu Higher Education Assurance Scheme has been launched in order to combat the issue of low enrollment ratio of girls from government schools in higher education. All the girl students from classes 6th to 12th will be provided the benefit of this scheme. The benefit of this scheme will continue to be provided to the girls till their uninterrupted undergraduate degree, diploma, and ITI courses. Beneficiaries of this scheme will also be able to take advantage of other scholarships available. Only the girls belonging to the economically weaker section will be provided the benefit of this scheme. The benefit amount under this scheme will be disbursed directly into the bank account of the beneficiary.
